"The Kid" has arrived

William Thayne Church was born this morning 12/3/12 at 7:22.  He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and was 21 inches long.  Here are some pictures.

Now for those of you who want to know how it all went down here is the quick birth story. After seeing my doctor on my due date (Thursday November 29), I was very discouraged because there was no progress.  I had ultimately resigned myself to the idea that I was going to end up being induced the following Friday.  To my surprise, I started having contractions on Saturday night at about 11:00 pm.  I didn't really think they were contractions for quite a while.  Probably because I didn't want to get my hopes up.  They started getting regular at 4:00 in the morning when I could no longer sleep through them.  As the contractions got closer I continued to be skeptical, but we started to get ready, and finally went to the hospital at 4:00 pm.

When we got to the hospital I was still only at 3 cm, but my contractions were 4-5 minutes apart so they admitted me and my long night began.  I was able to progress naturally without any supplementation.  I got an epidural at 8:00 and was able to relax most of the night.  I progressed to 8 cm by 2:00 am, but then it took awhile for his head to drop low enough to push.  We started pushing at around 6:45 and he was born at 7:22.  He is a cute little guy with a dimple chin and long fingers and toes like his daddy and a cute little nose like his Grandma Romney.  He has had some trouble maintaining his temperature and doesn't want to wake up to eat today, but I'm sure that will change once his 24 hour labor hangover wears off.

We are both doing great and looking forward to going home and sleeping without disturbance every 30 min.  Robbie was an excellent support!

Trip to Utah and Robson/Romney Baby Shower

 I made my last trip home before the little guy arrives the last weekend in September.  I took Friday and Monday off to extend my trip and enjoyed spending Friday with my mom because she had the day off of school.  I helped them get ready for the baby shower and helped my mom come up with the wall hanging project we did with everyone at the shower.

Saturday we had the baby shower and enjoyed seeing many of my Robson and Romney aunts and cousins.  It is always fun to catch up with family I don't see very often.  The food was amazing and everyone helped to make the alphabet blocks I have hanging in the baby's room. (Picture to follow in future post).

 The awesome cupcake tower complete with gluten full and gluten free cupcakes.  They were amazing especially the chocolate cupcakes with salted carmel frosting Rachel made.  Also included are some of the completed alphabet blocks.  The whole project turned out way better than I had every imagined.  I have talented relatives.

Marci was an awesome photographer and got pictures of everyone that came.  Below are pictures she took of people with the preface "Show me how you really feel!"  I thought these were entertaining so you might also.

We were also able to FaceTime with Sarah while opening presents, and wish she had been able to be there with us.  Marci made sure to get some sisters pictures.

Lastly, because people think they need to see my pregnancy whaleness, her is a picture of how a really feel about documenting my pregnant body!

Everyone was so generous and spoiled this baby with great gifts.  I am extremely blessed to have an amazing family and to have the support of so many amazing people.

Robbie and Lauren's Birthday Dinner

 Robbie and Lauren (sister-in-law) have birthdays the same week so we invited Adam, Lauren and Julia over to celebrate.  It was a Sunday so we enjoyed a delicious meal of steak, lobster tails, mashed potatoes and salad.  We were all stuffed, but managed to make room for the strawberry shortcake after opening presents. 

 We gave Lauren a micro-plane zester ( in my opinion, one of the coolest and necessary kitchen tools one can have), and a salad dressing shaker because she LOVES salad.  

 Robbie received his first head lamp and a super manly and small USB to keep on his keychain.

 Julia loves imitating Robbie!!!  No coaxing was necessary to get her to do this for the camera.

 We took turns blowing out candles.  I kind of forced both Robbie and Lauren to do it, but in my opinion some things from childhood should be continued.

The cake I made!  I think that this one turned out pretty awesome, but what cake isn't amazing when it is frosted with whip cream.
